I am in Luganville, Vanuatu for a year taking part in a volunteering assignment with Volunteer Service Abroad/GHD involving the improvement of waste management practises there. The town dump is to be replaced with an engineered landfill. I am here to start the process of dump closure and locate a site that will be suitable to build a landfill on. Is it a gate? Is it a fence? Is it abstract art?!
I had asked the carpenter to build stuff for me before and his work quality was excellent. What happened with this fence left me at a loss for words. I didn't bother questioning him. There must be a reason.
